So for the first baby recipe... I am going to share with you my GO TO meal for Zeeks.
Even though he is old enough now to eat meat and more grown up meals, he struggles with liver problems so he often needs to eat food that's light and easily digested.
I would definitely recommend this meal for your baby if it's poorly or has similar health issues as my son.
Food age guidance: 4 months+
INGREDIENTS
- half of a medium sized sweet potato
- 1 small carrot
- 2 trees of broccoli
- 2 trees of cauliflower
Now first of all I know they are called florets but because they look like trees I call them trees. Lol
So it's very easy to make...
Just peel the potato and carrot (I found that the potato doesn't always need to be peeled you can do that after boiling as it has more vitamins nearer to the skin) but either way if you are making it at home it's already much more healthier then the jar food.
Make sure you wash all the ingredients before you put them in a saucepan. Then cover it with cold water! As boiling water will kill the vitamins. Wait until it's boiled and very very solf.
Depending on your child's age you as a parent know best whether your child is ready for non blended food. My son had his food blended up until 10 months but some babies are quicker at getting used to more solid foods. After 10 months I used to mash the food up for him with a fork so that it has a more mushy consistency and slowly mashed it a little less to get him used to solids more.
Remember this meal can take you 20 to 25minutes all together. But at the end of the day you made it yourself. I'm not against jar food.
Moreover I often feed jar food to Zeeks when we go away but I just prefer to make food at home most of the time.
Remember you are a great parent there will be times where you will not feel up to cooking fresh because of being tired or being sad and feeling on your own.
Just a little tip. Poundland sells containers small enough for freezing. Why not make a little more each time you cook and then freezing them in little pots like little portions?
Then all you have to do is microwave it on very low heat. Dinner ready in 5mins.
